The Lanark County Sexual Assault and Domesitic Violence Progam
Community Partners
The Perth Police Service has partnered with the Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital to assist in the delivery of the Lanark County Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Program. This program provides medical care and treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to all victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, through the emergency department of all Lanark County hospitals.
Staff has been specifically trained to respond to the needs of victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Available services include, physical assessment, treatment of injuries, testing/treatment for sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy, documentation and collection of forensic evidence, crisis support and information, follow-up care, and referrals to community services.
The program also provides access to a social worker who can provide counseling, emotional support, safety planning, coping strategies, assessment of support network and referral/assistance to accessing other community services. All services are free and confidential.
The Lanark County Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Program also offers public education services. Workshops and presentations are available free of charge to agencies, service clubs, individuals and schools regarding issues of sexual assault, domestic violence, healthy relationships, self-esteem and a variety of other related topics.
