With 4 marked cruisers, 2 unmarked cruisers, 2 bicycles, and a strong emphasis on foot patrol, the service is ever present in the community. Officers receive specialized training in a number of areas of policing. Some examples are Criminal Investigations, Sexual Assaults, Major Case Managements, Police Administration, Drug Investigations and Scenes of Crime Forensic Identification to name a few. In addition, every front line uniform member has received the "Immediate Rapid Deployment Training" in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police.
All officers participate in programs such as R.I.D.E, VIP, STEP and every officer is assigned to one of the five schools in the Town to conduct specific educational programs. Operational equipment includes the use of the Intoxilyzer 5000C breath instrument, laser radar and notebook computers.
Communicators are kept busy answering 9-1-1 calls for our community while dispatching Police and Fire calls within the Town. The Communications Centre is supported with separate record management systems for Police and Fire providing customized and discipline specific information at the fingertips of the dispatchers.
