About Us

Perth Police Service is a strong and proud part of our community that responds to approximately 6000 calls for service per year. The organization is lead by Chief Patrick Capello through the deployment of 14 uniform officers, 2 auxiliary members, 7 communicators, 3 special constables and an administrative assistant. The Service is a relatively small organization that continues to meet adequacy standards as dictated by the Province by focusing on dependable and consistent service, professional development of the members and crime prevention initiatives. The service also shares resources with Lanark County OPP.

With 4 marked cruisers, 2 unmarked cruisers, 2 bicycles, and a strong emphasis on foot patrol, the service is ever present in the community. Officers receive specialized training in a number of areas of policing. Some examples are Criminal Investigations, Sexual Assaults, Major Case Managements, Police Administration, Drug Investigations and Scenes of Crime Forensic Identification to name a few. In addition, every front line uniform member has received the "Immediate Rapid Deployment Training" in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police.

All officers participate in programs such as R.I.D.E, VIP, STEP and every officer is assigned to one of the five schools in the Town to conduct specific educational programs. Operational equipment includes the use of the Intoxilyzer 5000C breath instrument, laser radar and notebook computers.

Communicators are kept busy answering 9-1-1 calls for our community while dispatching Police and Fire calls within the Town. The Communications Centre is supported with separate record management systems for Police and Fire providing customized and discipline specific information at the fingertips of the dispatchers.

Perth Police Service prides itself on recruiting and developing local people who bring depth, history and a sense of ownership to the vocation of policing. We are a "Community Based Institution" dedicated to preserving Heritage Perth as a very special place in eastern Ontario.
